St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has been nominated for the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, a tribute to him by the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD). The accolade is a global civil society initiative recognized by the United Nations (UN).
PM Drew announced this during the national press conference held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 with cabinet ministers. During the conference he said that he has been nominated to be recognized by MIPAD, which is connected to the United Nations. He further explained that to honor or to recognize the leaders of African descent who are making significant strides to advance African peoples in the world.
“I think I will be the only Prime Minister in the region to do that,” added Prime Minister Drew.
The global recognition has been extended to the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis as Dr. Drew continues to strengthen the international partnerships of the federation and champions a progressive, people centred vision rooted in the Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA).

Prime Minister Drew’s leadership is commendable as his bold efforts in reconnecting with the African continent. He pioneered renewable energy and expanded healthcare access. Work done by him also includes modernizing infrastructure and promoting inclusive economic growth.
Dr. Terrance Drew reflected on the significance of the award and stated that the size does not limit what they can achieve, they are small but they tallawah.
Notably, PM Terrance Drew will be recognized during the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) Recognition Weekend on September 26, 2025 at the Harvard Club in New York City, US. The award ceremony will be observed on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
At the MIPAD award ceremony, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis will be joined by a distinguished cohort of global luminaries, which includes former US President Barack Obama, President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus of the WHO. All of them have previously received MIPAD Lifetime Achievement recognition.
