St Kitts: The water crisis has remerged in the St Peter’s Community, which is a part of the parliamentary constituency of PM Dr Terrance Drew. Some areas of the community are currently without running water. In this situation Prime Minister has assured the people that they are trying to find a solution for the water emergency.
St Peter’s Community is currently facing shortages in water supply due to increased usage and reduced rainfall. Such a situation, in light of the festive season is extremely unfortunate. However, the Prime Minister understands the gravity of the situation and is willing to take swift action to tackle the crisis.
Dr Drew has already alerted the officials of the fire services, asking them to provide assistance to the homes that need water supply Additionally, PM Drew also asked the people of the community to be on the lookout for the officials if they need assistance.
The Prime Minister and his team are dealing with the crisis of the water supply for several months. Unfortunately, the St Peter’s and Cayon Community of Constituency 8 have been struggling more than the other communities.
As the parliamentary representative of the people of these communities, Dr Drew has taken the responsibility to tackle the sitautaion. He announced through his social media account that the water department of St Kitts will continue to monitor the situation.
Further, PM Terrance Drew announced that the area of Tabernacle is also being addressed. The prime minister also mentioned the measures that he, as the Minister of Finance introduced in the 2024 budget to address water crisis.
According to the prime minister, they have announced that a 2 million gallon desal plant will be constructed in 2024. Also the well in Cayon is on its way to completion.
Dr Drew claimed that this situation is due to climate change. However, he assured the people that they are responding aggressively to find solutions to ensure that water is available for our people.
