Port of Mombasa receives cruise MV Atlas One

Kenya Ports Authority believes in partnerships and they want to commit themselves and continue to support all in order to grow together as a team.

Kenya: MV Atlas One has been received by the Port of Mombasa, and has made her maiden call in the morning yesterday, August 22, 2024 to discharge 1701 TEUs and load 1600 TEUs.

Reportedly, the Singaporean flagged vessel is manged by One Line Shipping and is expected to call Mombasa at least once a month. The cruise sailed from Singapore, ten days ago, and is expected to make a return trip to Singapore, before heading to Shanghai, China and then to Mombasa.

Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority – Captain William Ruto said that as a fitting tradition was presented, the visiting Master – Captain Kyaw Nyi with a Certificate of First Call and a commemorative plaque.

As per the sources, Captain William Ruto also welcomed the crew and One Line Shipping affirming that the significant number of new callers was a result of enhanced capacity and reduced ship turn-around time that is way ahead of any port on the east-coast.

 

MD Ruto also said that the upsizing of calls to Mombasa by One Line is a testament that the shipping line is on course and is making right choices.

Following this, Ruto went on to tell the agents that Port of Mombasa is growing partially attributed to the ships and deliberately choosing the Mombasa due to efficient services.

Furthermore, he confirmed that the Kenya Ports Authority believes in partnerships and they want to commit themselves and continue to support all in order to grow together as a team.

He added to his statement that One Line, part of the East Africa Service-03 consisting of PIL, hapag Lloyd and GSL will offer, direct weekly sailings between China, Southeast Asia, Kenya and Tanzania with very efficient transit times.

Captain Ruto also said, “The addition of the MV Atlas One to Mombasa’s regular shipping schedule underscores the port’s pivotal role in facilitating global trade and its ongoing efforts to maintain its status as the leading maritime gateway on the East African coast.”
