Zimbabwe: President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa addressed the World Governments Summit in Dubai, UAE, where he presented how Zimbabwe has aligned its systems policies and education to keep up with the ‘Rapidly Changing World’.

The theme of the World Governments Summit 2024 was ‘Shaping Future Governments’, which provided a platform to identify innovative solutions for future challenges.

While addressing the Summit, President Mnangagwa said that no country is immune to global challenges. He mentioned that Zimbabwe’s problems and issues were compounded by illegal Western sanctions.

The president added to his words that the world continues to witness a shift in geopolitics, climate change, induced poverty, natural disasters, high debt burdens, and supply chain disruptions.

“No country is immune from food and energy insecurity, inflation pressures and the slowdown in the global economy,” said the president.

Considerably, the Fourth Industrial Revolution provided the opportunities and the need for regulated Artificial Intelligence that gave a direction to re-imagine how societies are governed and economies are managed.

As per the reports, the Government of Zimbabwe has implemented multi-pronged strategies focusing mainly upon sustainable development, economic growth and higher quality of life that left no one and no place behind.

President showed his concern for the illegal sanctions imposed on the nation and stated, “Zimbabwe has received no lines of credit from International Financial Institutions, yet.”

“Instead of burying the heads in the sands, the country found a resolved alternative to be innovative and leverage on the domestic resources to drive a sustainable, realistic and achievable people-centered development agenda,” said the president.

President Mnangagwa enlightened about their vision for the country and said, “Our National Vision and National Development Strategy outlines the national strategic objective being the realization of an upper middle-income economy by the year 2030.”

Reportedly, Zimbabwe recorded a strong economic growth rate of an average of 6.8%. The economic growth will embrace the fastest economy in the Southern African region.

Talking about the results, President Mnangagwa mentioned that Zimbabwe is now food secure and has realized what wheat self-sufficiency means in Africa.

“The firm foundation has resulted in export growth and enhanced agro industrialization. It has increased the employment and the higher standards of living for the predominantly rural population,” said Mnangagwa.
