Botswana: The President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi attended the official opening of the 2024 Summit for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The opening of the summit was hosted on Wednesday, starting several collaborative discussions.
The President of Botswana was accompanied by several leaders and heads of state from all over Africa. The officials have shared that the Summit meets every three years alternating between China and Africa.
The theme of the summit is, “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.” The President of Botswana has travelled to China to attend the summit.
The official forum will be hosted over the course of three days, starting on September 4 and concluding on September 6. The aim of the collaboration was to make sure that China and Africa can collaborate on several crucial matters of importance.
The leaders have shared that the forum discussed a number of developments for the two regions. The officials have shared several images from the opening event on their social media.
President Mokgweetsi Masisi met several state heads during his trip to china. He has also participated in meetings seeking collaborations with two Chinese Automobile Manufacturing Companies.
Dr Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi met with these companies in Beijing, China, on the sidelines of FOCAC. The meeting happened after the opening ceremony of the forum. The aim of the meeting was to help in the advancement of Botswana’s Transportation Sector through technology uptake.
During the meeting, President Masisi noted that governments’ priority to co-create with Partners. He wants to make sure that Batswana can fully benefit from the value chains of electric vehicles in the country.
The President of China, Xi Jinping has pledged that the two organizations will partner and collaborate for modernization. President Jinping said that they should collaborate for modernization that will benefit both China and Africa and turns out to be a Win-Win situation for them.
The President of China also claimed that they seek modernization which is eco-friendly and sustainable.
