Kenya: The Kenya forest service has taken the vision of President William Ruto of planting 15 Billion trees in the various parts of Kenya. In adherence to the mandate, the Chief Conservator of Forest, Alex Lemarkoko took the initiative to the schools.

The CCF was accompanying the president of the country, William Ruto during his development tour of Transmara West in Narok County. The KFS has revealed that over 34,000 trees were grown in the 17 schools of the area.

This development is extremely important for achieving President Ruto’s vision of covering 30% of Kenya’s landmass with trees. President Ruto announced the target in December 2022, citing it as an important step towards climate action.

Through a mass tree-planting exercise, the government of Kenya is doing its part in addressing global warming and climate change. The government is working hard to sensitize the population of Kenya about the importance of planting trees.

Several officials of the government attended the development tour of Transmara West in Narok County. The government officials were delighted with the event’s success and encouraged the country’s people to continue with the mandate.

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment Climate Change and Forestry Soipan Tuya delivered remarks at the thanksgiving ceremony. He was at the time representing the Principal Secretary State Department of Tourism John Ololtua.

CS Soipan Tuya urged the residents to grow trees on their farms and protect their environment. The government official noted that the practice will help sustain the region’s agricultural sector, which is a mainstay.

The various sectors of the government have been involved in the tree plantation initiative started by President William Ruto. The President’s wife and First lady of Kenya, Rachel Ruto has also extended her support to the president’s vision.

Under the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign, First Lady Rachel Ruto promised to plant 500 Million Trees in Kenya.

The Kenya Forest Service is delighted with the proactive approach taken by the country’s first family and government towards protecting the environment. The country’s people are also happy with the government for their green initiative.
