According to the judiciary, Uganda’s third highest ranking officer, Principal Judge ‘Dr Flavian Zeija’, has escaped an assassination attempt.

Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija survived a gun attack along the Kampala-Masaka highway.

As per the statement released on Sunday, April 24, 2022, Jamson Karemani, the judiciary PRO, stated that shooters fired at the Principal judge’s convoy on Saturday evening at around 7:00 pm.

Furthermore, Karemani stated that “Thankfully, the Principal Judge and his entire team ran unhurt from the incident.

The spokesperson of the judiciary stated that they are blaming the strongest terms, what he called “barbaric conduct”, whose intentions are only familiar to those who engage in such acts of unlawful.

This was an act of cowardliness, and we are fully confident that the perpetrators shall look at an appropriate time to be brought back so that they can book.

Moreover, Karemani stated that the Uganda Police Force had started investigations into the whole incident that occurred.

He added that the judicatory is still committed in order to executing its constitutional adjudication mandate and administrating justice.

The main responsible person is a principal judge for supervising the justices of the High Court, including the assignment of duties to members of the Court.

As the Principal Judge, Justice Flavian Zeija is also responsible for supervising the Magistrates Courts below the High Court.

Dr Flavian Zeija is one of the highest ranking Judicial officers in the country.

However, Police are still pending in a bid to comment on the incident.

This incident or attack occurred on the Kampala-Masaka highway, and Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija survived this gun attack.

“By the god grace, the Principal Judge and his entire team escaped unhurt from the incident,” Karemani said.

A principal judge is mainly responsible for supervising the justices of the High Court, including the assignment of duties to members of the Court.
