Zambia: Vice President of Gender Division – PS Mainga Kabika led a joint operation of different stakeholders. The operation was led to close an illegal Mukanda (Male) Circumcision Camp in Livingstone.
Reportedly, the camp has been burnt and was closed indefinitely due to failure of the organisers. The organisers failed to follow the procedures and were recruiting the new young initiates without their parental consent.
As per the sources, forty-eight boys who were among the underage and school-going were rescued. Though some of them have been found with the complications on their private parts.
However, the cause and reason for doing so is yet to be found, as the investigation is still on. Following this many locals and outsiders have presented their rage and expressed themselves by giving their opinions and views in the comment section.
Considering this, on going brutality, a legal service organisation CIS commented to arrest the leaders of the camp.
Another social media user Auxillia Mwansa from Zambia wrote, “Princess Bana Mapalo Mwansa, it’s long over due for these culprits. Keeping children without parental consent.”
Another person named Alice Ingntu Likando praised the minister and said, “Good move PS this transitional thing it’s getting out of hand.”
A person named Christabel Mukuma commented that, “A better way to pass your massage, should have been found, one sister may you love your life, that arrogant stance pointing at that man with a kalupala, who has chosen to stay silent, looking foolish. This may not be the end of the story, don’t take his silence for foolishness. I would have taken the route recommended by the president which is a round table. Otherwise, this confrontational route may end up costing you a lot more than expected.”
While some people have supporting her in this good cause, some have also stand against her and refused the act of the lady.
As, a person named Phillimon Kanonga Ebo Kayz said that, “Killing traditional and culture to please a white man who has compied it with a fance name called circumcision.”
Another person Chrispin Mwadimbamba commented, “Who is she to close traditional ceremony which has been there before she was born.”
