Zimbabwe: The chairman of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) – Farai Jere, has supported the Rufaro Stadium, which is set to open its doors for top-flight action when the season commences next month.

Reportedly, Rufaro Stadium is all set to welcome the teams from Harare, with the Heart Stadium in Waterfalls.

After touring the football facility last week, the Chairman Jere hailed the renovations that were carried out by the Harare City Council.

Farai Jere said that they can see there are things up to world standards that are happening there. He added that the turf that people can see is world-class. “I imagine if this grass is cut and is ready for the matches as it will be eye-catching,” said Chairman Jere.

As per the sources, Rufaro Stadium has hosted top-flight matches in 2019 after going through a period of negligence.

The City Council majorly embarked on the renovations that have apparently not satisfied the Confederations of African Football (CAF) that condemns the facility to host international matches.

Considering this Farai Jere said, “It is quite encouraging that there is hope that our matches from Harare will be played in Harare.”

He added that they are very happy that the stadium is ready to host the matches and Rufaro Stadium is coming up. Jere mentioned that the National Sports Stadium will be another asset coming in by April or May.
