Zambia: Retired Nurses and Midwives of Zambia have launched the Retired Nurses and Midwives Association. The official announcement regarding the association launch was made on Saturday, May 17.
The Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Elias Mubaga was present at the launch event as a special guest. He has applauded the members of the organization for taking this step.

The nurses and midwives form a crucial part of the healthcare support system of any nation. Notably, the association will help the retired professionals into a formal union bringing them together under a single roof.
The Minister believes the formation of the association is a step in the right direction. The retirees will be able to remain a part of a community even after they have served their years into the profession.
Minister Mubanga says a Nurse once retired is just like any other employee in the country. They need to continue to sustain themselves with the skills that they have honed with years of service.
He said the launch is the beginning of many journeys ahead. The Minister believes that the launch of a formal association will set precedence for more retired professionals to take inspiration.
Minister Mubanga made these remarks on Saturday when he attended the launch of the Retired Nurses and Midwives in Zambia.
Meanwhile, President of the newly launched Association, Regina Yeta explained that the Association was formed to support retired Nurses. The organization is all set to provide capacity building to the members. This will help make sure that the nurses can sustain themselves individually and as a group.
The people of Zambia have also appreciated the members of the organization. The Retired Nurses and Midwives association will help in making sure that these professionals can continue participating in Zambian Healthcare productively.
