Cameroon: The decision of Rigobert Song to make Darline Yongwa play as a forward winger is being appreciated by the nation and football lovers.

Appreciating the strategy, a local journalist, ADE Divine, shared a post and wrote, “Rigobert Song, that was… great!”

He wrote that Playing Yongwa as a forward winger in a 4-3-3 system raised eyebrows, but it was for a good reason. “With Darline Yongwa in that position, Cameroon is more secure defensively because when the opponent is attacking, Yongwa drops back, activates his defensive ability and forms a double wall on the left flank with Nouhou Tolo,” added ADE Divine.

He mentioned that when the team attacks, Yongwa equally adds width thanks to his versatility. He praised the choice and wrote, “Rigobert Song’s choice paid off. Yongwa was the goal scorer.”

“In a knockout competition, nothing counts more than solidity. Defend well first, and everything or the other thing follows,” he added.

Many social media users have shared their reactions to the choice and praised Rigobert Song.

A digital creator, Forlefac Mendel, commented, “Great analysis, Darling Yongwa is trying to play the system of Alexander Arnold of Liverpool and Andy Robertson too… What I think should be best for him remains in my mind… the coach knows best… despite our critics, it’s because we don’t want to be disappointed in a knockout competition like this one which we are the second highest winners of the competition… we go there as pros not as strugglers… we have high hopes on seeing our team in at least the quarter-finals of the game… Good Luck Lions.”

A social media user Bishi Son wrote, “I was so amazed with the tactics, kudos to manyang. But we need winnings to qualify for the round 16 before thinking of this type of tactics coz such tactics are necessary when we are begging for draw and want to the match to end in penalty kicks not group stage.”

Another user Senior Pascal expressed, “This guy is very good especially when he goes offensively. He dribbles so tactically and forcefully. I love his art.”

The comment section was flooded with lots of positive reactions as many supporters came ahead and praised the move.
