Rustenburg: In the quest to maintain a hygienic working environment and one that is conducive for all employees and free from potential health hazards, the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has embarked on a two-day workshop in Rustenburg, targeting cleaners as well as general workers of the Department.
The workshop is an empowerment initiative that will provide the personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to help with their daily duties. It also provides an opportunity to motivate them as well as to recognise their meaningful contribution to the public service.
Cleaners and general workers play an important role in upholding cleanliness standards, which contribute towards the creation of a positive perception of the Department by its employees and the general public.
The Chief Director for Corporate Service, Dr Ntlhopeng Dikobe, says for a department that ensures the safety of the public it is important that it starts with us.
“As public servants, we carry the responsibility of creating safe environments for our people. Therefore, we should start with ourselves first and become true ambassadors of safety, especially in the workplace.
“Our cleaners ensure that our environment is conducive and we appreciate their commitment to assist us as we extend directly to the public. In essence, we are able to deliver because of your motivation to start the day on a clean note,” said Dr Ntlhopeng.
The key motive was to give them an objective to get to know each other and build a team of workers capable of building a relationship with each other.
“The Department is kept up to par and in control under their conduct, and as the Security and Facilities Management, We would like to thank and appreciate your support and hard work in upkeep,” said Sylvester Khonkhobe as the Deputy Director for Security and Facilities Management.
Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality management topics were covered, and the staff was left joyful and motivated to continue doing their duties with professionalism and passion.
