Botswana: Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna, High Commissioner of Kenya to Botswana and Special Representative to Southern African Development Community (SADC), paid a courtesy call on Elias M. Magosi. She presented her letters of credence to the Executive secretary of the Southern African Development Community.
The officials shared some glimpses of the event on their social media. During the meeting, Elias M. Magosi welcomed her into her new role and extended his best wishes to her for her future.
In her new role, the High Commissioner of Kenya to Botswana will be helping her country meet several critical development initiatives in the country. Notably, the two nations share a remarkable bond between themselves.
They are strong partners working towards the development of the Southern African Community. The team Executive Secretariat was delighted to welcome the Kenyan Representative to work with them. They congratulated her on being appointed as the High Commissioner of Kenya to Botswana and SADC.
The Southern African Development Community, SADC shared some images from the courtesy call which took place on Wednesday. The team was delighted to witness the presentation of the credentials and subsequent interaction between the two leaders.
Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna and Elias M. Magosi reiterated their commitment to collaborate and strengthen existing cooperation towards regional and continental integration. They aim to work towards this mandate through the Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA).
The TFTA is a free trade agreement between the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC) and SADC.
As a member of both EAC and COMESA, Kenya offers great trade and investment opportunities for trade and business partnerships with the SADC region.
Kenya also ratified the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in May 2018. The initiative provides an opportunity for Africa to create the world’s largest free trade area with the potential to unite more than 1.2 billion people in a $2.5 trillion economic bloc and usher in a new era of development.
