Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia has discontinued their tropical storm warning for Hurricane Beryl at 8:00 PM on Monday. Beryl had started as a tropical storm and strengthened into a category five hurricane over the next two days.

When the Hurricane first approached Saint Lucia, it was a category four hurricane. Over the last twenty four hours before the discontinuation of the hurricane warning, Saint Lucia witnessed some affects of the passage of the hurricane.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, addressed the nation on Monday to announce the all clear. He shared that they endured the affects of a downgraded system which caused significant flooding, land slippage and property damage.

PM Pierre added that this system could have been even more severe on the nation. However, the people were spared the disaster. All the emergency organizations and parliamentary representatives across the nation came together to manage the situation.

The officials have shared that they have given the All Clear for utility companies to undertake their assessments and repairs. The officials have shared that the people of the country can carry out the businesses safely after the all clear.

The officials have shared that they will continue to observed the situation and the next assessment will be done at 5AM on Tuesday, 2nd July. The Prime Minister further clarified that the schools across the island nation will remain closed till Wednesday.

The Hurricane still continues to be a major threat to life and property in the Windward Islands. The officials have shared that the members of the community have been urged to exercise caution.

In Saint Lucia, the Prime Minister has confirmed the reports of damage in various parts of the nation. In the first forty eight hours, the first responders have reported fallen trees, blocked roadways and waterways.

They also reported landslides and loss of houses in several parts of Saint Lucia along with significant damage at the Soufrière waterfront. The Prime Minister also detailed damage to police jetties PM Pierre confirmed that the first responders will be on ground starting Tuesday.
