Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched its weekly summary (27 March – 02 April 2023) as per African weather reports; scattered thunderstorms are expected over the central interior as an upper air perturbation tries to move east across the country but ends up blocked by a high in the east.
It is fine and warm in the west and central interior but cloudy and cool in the east. Medium chance of scattered thunderstorms in the northeast, over eastern North West, Gauteng and western Limpopo this afternoon. Fresh southerly winds are expected in the Lowveld (20-30km/h).
High chance of scattered showers and thundershowers over the central regions on Tuesday and Wednesday, excluding Limpopo on both days. Otherwise, fine and warm to hot in the west and far northeast, with a medium chance of light rainfall along the south coast on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Disruptive winds exceeding 40km/h NW are expected over the Cape interior on Tuesday but less intense slightly east of the Cape interior on Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal will be cloudy and cool, with an increasing chance of showers and thundershowers across the eastern provinces on Friday. There are some chances of high-impact rainfall leading to localised floods over eastern Mpumalanga, but low in northern Gauteng, eastern North West and western Limpopo.
The weekend will most likely remain dry and warm to hot in the west and central interior, with a medium chance of light to moderate rainfall in the far east but the light over the eastern interior on Saturday. Again there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms in places over the Cape interior on Sunday.
