Zambia: A 45-year-old security officer in Kasempa District was murdered while he was trying to help a woman who was crying for help. This incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, May 25, 2025 near Janki Enterprises, where the victim was employed.
North Western Province Police Commissioner Brighton Siwale has spoken to the media about this incident. He shared that the murder happened in the early hours of Sunday, or right after midnight.
The exact hour of the murder can not be confirmed however the experts have put it close to the midnight hour.
The crime happened within the Kasempa township of the district of the same name and was reported to Kasempa Police Station at 09:00 hours. The official first incident report was filed by the victim’s father who shared the details of the murder with the officers at the apolice Station.
The North-Western Province Police Commanding Officer has issued a media statement with respect to this incident. The PR Officer Siwale revealed that the deceased was on duty at Janki Enterprises when he responded to distress calls.
The call for help was coming from a woman who was shouting that a man had stolen K20 from her. The identity of the woman could not be confirmed by the police. She asked for help from the security officer.
At this point the victim trird to intercept the fleeing suspect using a different route. a witness, Davison Soko, 36, who was walking nearby, later heard the victim cry out.
Public Relations officer Siwale further disclosed that the suspect was tracked to a guest house near the scene of the crime. He was found hiding under a bed in Room 8 of the accommodation where a witness positively identified the suspect.
The police has arrested the suspect and he will be brought to the court soon in the near future to be charged and sentenced. The police has so far not shared any concrete details regarding the victim’s postmortem or burial arrangements.
