Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) in North- western Province is in need of support, The organization has called on stakeholders to help with assistive devices to improve mobility.
The administration of the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities for persons living with disabilities has shared that it is important to give these people access to devices that they can use to make their lives easier. The organization has shared that they are working hard to make sure that people living with disabilities can lead a happy life.
ZAPD Provincial Coordinator, Osco Moondoma, has shared that many people in the province who are dealing with disabilities in the Province are struggling with mobility issues. These challenges have been stopping them from participating in economic activities and living an independent lives.
The officials have shared that partners and people of goodwill have been supporting the organization. The support of these partners, donors and people of goodwill have been instrumental to the successful working of the organization.
The organization has been working across districts and provinces across Zambia. The organization has been supporting the people living with disabilities in communities across the nation.
Currently, North-Western Province chapter of the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities is in need of aassistive devices and have since publicised the call for support.
Moondoma spoke to the media in Solwezi. During the interview, he recalled the disability survey of 2015 which believes that adults need assistive devices. The organization has shared that adults can get acquired disabilities, sickness and work related disability.
The ZAPD has acquired 20 Paediatric Wheelchairs from Lusaka, however, despite this fact, the organization is still facing shortages. The organization has thus asked the individuals, Non- Governmental Organisations and Companies to help meet the deficit.
At the same time, the organization highlighted that disability affected people of the country regardless of age or religious affiliation. He reiterated that anyone can fall prey to issues. Accordingly the community needs to come together to help and support people with disabilities.
