Zambia: The Police have received the reports of a road traffic accident in the Nyawa Junction. The accident resulted in many people, including State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, being injured.
According to the official reports of the incident, the Road Traffic Accident has resulted in the victims sustaining very severe injuries. The accident happened on March 27, 2024, around 17:30 hours. The collision happened at Nyawa Junction about two kilometres south of Kalomo Town.
The Police force shared that they have started investigating the incident and identified one of the drivers. 27-year-old Given Tembo is a resident of Makeni Villa in Lusaka.
The suspect was driving a government registered Mazda B50 vehicle. The vehicle’s registration number, GRZ 776 CP, has also been shared with the media, according to the investigating officers of Zambia. The vehicle was northbound and had another passenger, a Hamakasa, on board.
Hamasaka of Woodlands in Lusaka sustained chest and general body pains. Further, the driver also sustained some bruises and the duo was admitted to Kalomo Urban Clinic.
The other victims who were involved in the road traffic accident are Prospine Sibulaya. The 30 year old is a resident of Muyambango Village in Nyawa Chiefdom.
Sibulaya was driving a southbound Mitsubishi Canter, registration number AJF 851 ZM, with seven passengers on board.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka informed the media about the incident. He claimed that the accident happened when the driver of the Mitsubishi Canter turned right without due care.
In the process, the vehicle was hit by the oncoming Mazda motor vehicle which had the right of way.

Last Chilombe, aged 45
Emeldah Munyaka aged 35
Judith Kahale aged 12
Sylvia Kafula, aged 67
Chanda Chilufya, 45
Costinah Maadale aged 40.
The officials have shared that all the victims suffered varying injuries.
