Botswana: Four beneficiaries from the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) Home Improvement program participated in orientation and formalized their contracts. The initiative for orientation and contract formalization was taken on Monday in several villages of Tonota.
The District Council of Tonota shared several images from the event on their official social media account. The officials have recalled that the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) Home Improvement program was suspended six years ago.
The event from Monday was significant as this was the first activity under the programme since its initial suspension. The officials have shared that the members of the community were delighted to benefit from the initiative.
Home Ownership is a major life goal for the people of the community. Further, after owning the house, it is the responsibility of the people to keep their homes in a good condition.
This is where the home improvement project comes into play. The programme allows the beneficiaries to access funds to improve their homes and repay the amount in easy installments.
The beneficiaries who have taken a solid step in this direction have appreciated the SHHA and government for their support.
The officials have shared that the community is happy with the continuation of the programme. The Deputy Council Secretary Chandapiwa Mpolokang delivered the welcome address in the honor of SHHA.
She also spoke about the next steps for the new homeowners who have benefitted from the SHHA programme. In her address, the highlighted the importance of being responsible about the repayment of the loans.
The Self Help Housing Association is hlping the people from the villages around the Tonota District improve upon their homes affordably. The Deputy Council Secretary highlighted that maintaining financial discipline is integral to the program’s success and sustainability.
The officials present at the orientation and formalization of the contracts included the Housing Officer, Kabelo Badumetse. The officer elaborated on the expectations set for the beneficiaries by thee SHHA.
He highlighted that rigorous monitoring will accompany their home improvement projects. He urged the recipients to collaborate effectively with both the program officials and the assigned contractors to ensure smooth execution and adherence to project standards
