South Africa: The Correctional Services division of South Africa has announced the launch of the National Festive Season Operational Plan. The initiative was launched in the Westville Prison – KZN. The aim of the programme was to make sure that law enforcement agencies can work to combat crime.
The Department of Correctional Services (DSC) launched the National Festive Season Operational Plan on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) who actively participated in the launch event shared some images on their social media.
The organization shared some details about the initiative that the law enforcement agencies are taking up for the upcoming season. The plan entailed proactive plans and strategies to avoid disruptions during the festive season.
This period has a higher intake of awaiting trial prisoners. The purpose was to formulate a working relationship between multidisciplinary Law Enforcement Agencies. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was invited to attend the function as a Force Multiplier to other agencies.
Commissioner Makgothi Samuel Thobakgale (pictures 12 & 14) officially launched the plan on November 29. Meanwhile the RUSA R44 Helicopter hovered above the field. Simulations of prison breaks, riots and contra band detection was conducted by different stakeholders.
The festive season which spans from November to December for most of the world is one of the most vulnerable times for law enforcement agencies. It is important for the organizations to increase their activeness and become more alert to incidents of crime.
The people of South Africa are applauding the Reaction Unit and the other law enforcement organizations for the initiative. The people have put their trust in the Reaction Unit, Department of Correctional Services and other agencies.
