Cape Town: Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos confirmed increase in job creation through an official annual report. He released the report recently where South Africa leads.
James Vos unveiled that “Cape Town is on roll!” According to him, the new report confirms that the city leads South Africa in Job creation, with employment upto 20.2% since 2014.
Vos mentioned that at present 1.76 million people have jobs in South Africa and more than any other metro with 300,000 added since 2022.
Providing jobs, Alderman James Vos stated, “We’re building boats, making clothes and powering up the future! Last year, SA alone, built over 300 luxury boats, produced 389 million garments and unlocked 4GW in renewable energy projects by pumping billions into the economy while changing lives.”
He cleared that they are not just growing the economy but also creating more opportunities and said, “By backing industries and working with partners like Blue Cape, CapeBPO, GreenCape and the Cape Clothing and Textile Cluster, we are not just growing the economy, we are creating opportunities, driving innovation and making Cape Town the place to be!”
Earlier, this week, James Vos focused completely on boosting investment, trade and jobs. Considering the major initiatives, he met with ambassadors to advance the economic ties. He spoke at the European Union event with ‘Wesgro’ on strengthening the trade.
Vos took visits to the factories for the Productivity Efficiency Programme. He presented himself to the businesses in the Greater Tygerberg Partnership. He also attended the Cape Skills and Employment Accelerator graduation.
