South African ‘PROTEAS’ played their first ever World Cup Final Match in Barbados against India

South Africa: The Proteas eleven played their first ever world cup final match in Barbados against Indian cricket team. Sadly, the guys couldn’t make it to through and lost to India, handing them over the ICC World Cup 2024 trophy.

South Africa men played their final match against Men In Blue on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Proteas reached the finals after beating teams like England and Afghanistan, which is commendable, as this happened for the first time ever in 32 years of the World Cup matches.

After getting trained by the several high-profile international coaches, it is because of Rob Walter, that South Africa was able to reach to the finals.

Walter truly deserves to be applauded for bringing the Proteas to their first-ever final World Cup match. He was never a star player himself, but he stayed resolutely grounded in the interviews and never outburst his raw emotions or put them on public display.

Earlier, before South Africa’s semifinal on Wednesday, there was just one journalist who attended his news conference before the match.

Well, the final trophy was bagged by the Indian team and they won by seven runs. The Proteas had to chase the target of 177 but was able to make only 169/8. Whereas, the Men In Blue made 176/7 runs and made the history.

Virat Kohli received the title of Man of the Match, while Jasprit Bumrah won the title of Player of the Tournament. Before the match India won the toss and decided to bat first.

In the second innings of the match, played by South Africa the openers Reeza Hendricks and the player of the match of last matches, Quinton de Kock came in the field to play. Then before the powerplay ends, Hendricks was bowled out by Bumrah in the second over.

Followed by Stubbs and Captain Aiden Markram by the end of the powerplay, South Africa was able to make 42 runs with their 2 players out of the field in the first six overs.

Heinrich Klaasen hit most of the runs and completed his half-century, hitting the ball with most fours and sixes. The match continued, giving the South Africans hope of a win.

But the terrific catch by Suryakumar Yadav, when he caught the ball hit by Miller was a definitely a turn that assured the crickets fans that India is going to win.

Finally, in a rush to chase the target of 177, the Proteas played the last ball by Arshdeep Singh and Keshav Maharaj on Strike. He played the last ball of last over and confirmed the loss to India by the difference of seven runs, making India the final winners of the ICC T20 World Cup of the year 2024!
