South Africa: ICC T20 Cricket World Cup match was played on June 19, 2024, where the result came out to be in favour of South Africans. The team beats USA by 18 runs, in their Super Eight match.
The match between the Africans and Americans was played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua where the Proteas scored their highest total of the tournament so far when they posted in 194-4.
South Africa finished the top of their group with four wins from four, in hope of lifting the major international Cricket Council trophy for the first time.
The South African team scored 194/4 runs whereas 176/6 runs were made by the USA team. Highlighting their win, SA captain Markram said that their win was bigger than the margin suggests.
Captain Markram praises Gous
Captain Markram praised Gous and said that he played really well and pushed SA closer to the win. He expressed that they were happy with the performance and could have tidied up for more extensive result.
Referring to their nice start the South African Captain said the team had a nice start but sudden changes were made in the wicket, turned it all. The wicket got slower and with those two things together, he emphasised that it may explain why they finished like that.
It was a nice start from de Kock to pace up his flow and everyone else chipped in. eventually, it became good for all of them for moving forward in the competition.
He further stated that all in whole, their plans were good and a couple of executions may have let them down but on a good wicket, “I think, the bowlers did a good job.”
De Kock as Man of the Match
South Africa’s de Kock was honoured as Man of the Match and said that it was nice getting runs on a decent wicket.
The Proteas opener told the ICC broadcast after his 74 runs and said that they have had some tricky wickets coming up to the game so that it comes out there.
He expressed that he was trying to focus on scoring runs and rest was taken care by the team itself. “The boys played well but so did USA and it was a great game,” said de Kock.
The South African batsman explained, “We have still got a couple more games to win, especially the next couple of games.” He added that the team have to play with some big teams in upcoming matches.
