Kenya: Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Creative Economy and Sports Ababu Namwamba met with the representatives of the Swiss sports apparel makers ON Running. The meeting took place on Tuesday with stakeholders of ON Running.
During the meeting, The Cabinet Secretary said during the meeting he progressed his partnership drive targeting the revamping of Kenya’s sporting ecosystem.
CS Namwamba assured the team that the sports apparel ecosystem remained a key area where his ministry was keen on growing. He informed the noting that the Government’s BETA agenda had earmarked it as a crucial pillar in its economic development plan.
The Ministry of Sports has been working hard to promote the sports sector of Kenya. The administration has taken several initiatives to encourage the youngsters of the country to participate in sports events.
Participation in sports and related events will not only help the youngsters maintain peak mental and physical health but also project a strong image of the country on the international front.
The Cabinet Secretary assured the team of the ministry’s full support to actualize the firm’s dream of establishing its operations in Kenya.
He called on them to leverage the flagship #TalantaHela initiative to lay ground for their short and long-term investment, especially in athletics, where they have already realised success.
The Talenta Hela Initiative has been instituted for the benefit of the talented youngsters of the country. The initiative is designed to help them earn a living by monetizing their talents
On their part, the reps assured Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba of their commitment to continue partnering with key sportsmen and women from Kenya, expressing their desire to grow their portfolio of athletes under the ON brand.
On Running company deals in manufacturing road and trail running, lifestyle, tennis, hiking and outdoor sportswear, and boasts some of the world’s top athletes under their brand, including Kenya’s and World 800m Queen Hellen Obiri, alongside tennis superstar Roger Federer.
