St. Kitts and Nevis government officially renamed the Conaree Community Center as the Hobson Tyson-Browne Community Center on Saturday, February 28, 2026. This honoured two outstanding pillars of the Conaree Community – Desmond Hobson Tyson Sr. And Dorothy Browne.
Reportedly, the renaming ceremony was attended by the government officials, community members and family representatives. This marked a significant milestone in the continued commitment of the government to recognise and preserve the legacy of citizens whose lifelong dedication has contributed meaningfully towards development of the nation.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew described this occasion as one rooted in gratitude and national pride. He noted that the renaming of the Conaree Community Center stands as a tribute to two remarkable pillars whose service and leadership helped in shaping both the Conaree Community and the wider federation.
Dr. Drew stated that this moment honours service, legacy and the quiet but powerful impact of citizens who helped in shaping Conaree and the nation. He further emphasised that the Government remains steadfast in its mission to formally recognise individuals who laid the foundation for the continued growth of the country and its social advancement.
At the event, Desbond Hobson Tyson Sr. And Dorothy Browne were recognised for their unwavering commitment to community development, mentorship and civic engagement. According to speakers at the ceremony, their years of selfless contribution embodied the spirit of service and unity that defines Conaree.
The newly named Hobson Tyson-Browne Community Center will be used as a functional space for gatherings and programmes and as a lasting symbol of gratitude and remembrance. Officials explained that this initiative forms part of a broader national effort to immortalise the invaluable service of deserving citizens across St. Kitts and Nevis in tangible and enduring ways.
Also, the Community members expressed pride and appreciation for the gesture.
