Jagersfontein, South Africa: During his visit to Jagersfontein, a small mining town in the Free State devastated by the collapse of a mine dam that took lives and left hundreds of families destitute, Deputy President Paul Mashatile committed to ensuring that the rebuilding process would be inclusive and benefit all affected parties.
Nedbank surprises mining disaster victims with donations ahead of Easter
South Africa: Nedbank surprised residents of Jagersfontein who were affected by the mining disaster that took place on the morning of 11 September 2022 (last year) with an early Easter gift. The donation took place on 05 April 2023 at the Jagersfontein Public Library, Kopanong Local Municipality.
Update on recent spillage of water at disaster-stricken
JAGERSFONTEIN: The disaster caused by the slime dam collapse in Jagersfontein was classified Provincial Disaster by the National Disaster Management Centre in terms of Section 23 of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act no.57 of 2002) through the Gazette published on 22 September 2022.
