Kenya: The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Creative Economy, Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen visited the Talenta Sports Stadium on Thursday. During his visit, the Cabinet Secretary was accompanying the President of Kenya, William Ruto.
The aim of the visit was to check on the progress of the stadium which will be the venue hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The sports stakeholders all over the continent understand the significance and of football in the lives of the people in the continent.
The officials have shared that Kenya is honoured to be chosen to host the event, which seeks to improve the nation’s standing in the sports sector. The Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy, and Sports is delighted to note that the progress on the Talanta Sports Stadium is going at a satisfactory pace.
The members of the Ministry were also present at the site visit. The Cabinet Secretary talked to the construction team. The officials have shared that the stadium will be completed by 2025 December and allow for the Ministry to continue their preparations for the football tournament.
The President of Kenya and Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen have shared that they are working hard to position Kenya’s sports sector among the best in the world.
The Ministry has shared several images from the visit to the stadium construction site. The officials are sure that the new stadium will be able to accommodate the huge crowd of football fans.
The stadium will be able to accommodate 60,000 football fans. The Ministry of Sports is proud to announce that this is the first major stadium of the country. Previously, the members of the nation has two major stadiums, Kasarani and Nyayo which were built nearly 40 years ago.
The people of the country have shared their delight on the construction of the stadium and said the administration is doing well to promote the nation’s sports sector.
