Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa: An 18-year-old male was seriously injured after he was stabbed multiple times while defending himself during a robbery. The incident took place at the Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim sustained deep wounds because of the assault. According to the victim, four suspects confronted him and asked him to hand over his cell phone. The teenager refused and began to defend himself.
At this time, the suspects stabbed the teenager once in the chest and twice in the arm. Following this, the suspects fled the scene, without the cellphone. As per the reports of the Reaction Unit office, the 18 year old alerted his employer about the incident.
The employer immediately took him to the Reaction Unit South Africa Headquarters in a white Toyota Fortuner. They reached the HQ at approximately 15:31 on Tuesday. RUSA Paramedics stabilised the victim before expediting him to hospital by ambulance.
While the paramedics were providing first aid to the victim, the reaction officers interviewed him and received the facts of the incident from him. The suspects are currently in wind, while the Reaction Unit officers have started an investigation into the incident.
Verulam region of KwaZulu-Natal has been struggling with crime and criminal activities. In the previous weeks, the region has recorded several robbery and assault incidents. The people of the country appreciated the Reaction Unit Officers for saving the life of the teenager.
The officers have received a lot of praise and appreciation for their commitment to containing crime in the region. Meanwhile, many residents of the area have claimed that Verulam is no longer a safe place.
Another social media user expressed his disappointment with the Verulam for making the region unsafe. To all the verulam citizens y’all should be ashamed of yourselves, you mean criminals can now do as they please and none of y’all will do anything to assist another person?

People have also come out to offer advice to the young victim who defended himself against the robbers. While some appreciated the youngster for his spirit, others advised that “no one should defend themselves barehanded”.
