Filabusi, Zimbabwe: A 43-year-old man was caught at the night club enjoying the new year party. According to the allegations, the man had stolen a Honda Fit car that he actually hired.
The culprit was arrested a few hours later while drinking beer at a nightclub in Filabusi on New Year’s Eve.
Reportedly, the suspect was identified as Roy Ncube. He hired the victim to provide transportation to Theleka Business Centre during the occurrence of the incident.
The Assistant Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Republic Police – Paul Nyathi, said that the Filabusi police apprehended Ncube in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle from a certain nightclub.
The national police spokesperson Paul Nyathi released the statement and confirmed the incident on December 31, 2023.
According to the report narrated by the Assistant Commissioner, the suspect asked for a lift from the victim to a nightclub and then, later on, ran off with the car when the victim went out to buy some drinks.
“The victim then parked his car outside the nightclub and left the keys on the ignition port while buying some drinks, leaving the suspect in the car,” narrated the officer.
He added, “Since the police have recovered the vehicle, the suspect drove off the vehicle and was later arrested while drinking beer at Theleka Business Centre.”
It was an unfortunate momentary lapse in security that provided an opportunity for the suspect, who was left alone in the vehicle and seize the chance and drove off with the Honda Fit.
The vigilance of the authorities proved to be fruitful as the joyride of the suspect was cut short.
The culprit, Roy Ncube later on apprehended by the police after he was found indulging in beer at the Theleka Business Centre.
Notably, the stolen Honda Fit car has been recovered with the help of prompt response by law enforcement.
