South Africa: Reaction Unit South Africa has arrested a 29 year old man while he was trying to steal a water meter in Brindhaven – KZN. The arrest was made a few hours ago on Tuesday after the members of the community a short while ago (Tuesday).
The members of the community allegedly reported the incident to the Reaction officers in the early hours of the morning. The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received calls from three residents on Glenaire Avenue.
All the calls came from different homes and telephones. They were requesting assistance after these resident noticed a male climbing over the boundary wall of an unoccupied home. The members of the community shared that they were worried that the suspect was trying to break into the unguarded home to steal valuables.
The officials have shared that the Reaction Unit dispatched the team of reaction officers to the scene of the incident in Brindhaven KZN. While the team was responding to the calls, they noticed that an individual matching the description attempting to steal a water meter.
At this point, Officers immediately apprehended the suspect. Several residents confirmed that the man was seen entering different properties of the neighbourhood with the intention to steal.
However, the suspect fled when he noticed that he was being observed.
After the arrest., the reaction officers questioned the suspect. During this interview, the male informed Reaction Officers that he is a Heroin addict.
He also said that he was assaulted by his father last week after he stole R20. He sustained head injuries from the assault. The suspect was detained at SAPS after a case of Malicious Damage To Property was registered.
The people of the country have shared that they are happy that the suspect was caught bfore he could reacha scrap yard and sell his robbed items. They believe that the suspect was caught red handed and will be able to assist the RUSA in mitigation of further incidents.
