South Africa: Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape that do marketing of the destination at global level, extends a heartfelt congratulations to former Wesgro Board Chairperson – Davis Green on being recognised in the King’s New Year Honour’s List.
Currently, he is the CEO of the V&A Waterfront and Chairman of the Zeitz MOCAA. Green leads the most popular tourist destination of the region. He has been awarded as the prestigious Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his significant contributions to strengthen UK and South Africa relations. Wesgro extended their warm wishes to David Green on his well-deserved honour.
The King’s New Year Honours List is a list of people who are recognised for their outstanding contributions to their communities in the UK. The list is a part of the British Honours System.
King’s New Year Honours List includes several different categories consisting of:
- Companion of Honour – A High Award
- Dame and Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) – A High Award
- Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath (DCB) – A High Award
- Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) – A High Award
- Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) – A High Award
The list of honours recognises the unsung heroes and the role models in sport, healthcare, academia and voluntary service.
Notably, the King’s honours and awards lists mainly recognises the bravery, commitment and commendable service of British Armed Forces personnel. The recipients have all shown the outstanding courage and dedication while they were on operations. They are awarded in recognition of gallant and distinguished categorised services in the field.
The Honours and Awards lists is published twice a year in conjunction with the King’s Birthday Honours list in June and the New Year Honours list in December.
King’s New Year Honours are typically awarded by the King, Prince of Wales or Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle or the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The recipients can select their investiture’s date and location but not which member of the Royal Family will preside over the ceremony.
