South Africa: A high impact week of global trade engagement has finally concluded at Made In The Cape 2026 event.
In order to grow the exports of goods and services strategically from Cape Town and the Western Cape, Wesgro concluded an energetic week of connection through its flagship hosted buyers’ programme i.e. #MadeInTheCape 2026.
Wesgro, is the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town & the Western Cape, that is marketing the destination at global level. The agency hosted the event in partnership with headline sponsor DHL Express. It was supported by returning sponsor, Standard Bank. The programme welcomed international buyers to Cape Town for two days of high-impact trade engagement.
Reportedly, they were proud to welcome 34 buyers from 17 countries i.e. Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, India, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, United States, Canada, Austria, and United Kingdom; including 19 new and 15 returning partners.
The returning buyers included leading retail and tourism players from India, the Middle East, Kenya, and China. While the new participants featured major names across film, wine importation, fresh produce, large-scale distribution, and food supply. This reflected strong and growing international demand across diverse sectors.
Considering the course of the programme:
- Over 230 Western Cape exporters participated
- Over 400 curated B2B meetings took place
- Key sectors that were represented, included manufacturing, design, film and agri-processing
- Buyers engaged directly with export-ready businesses to unlock new market access and long-term trade partnerships
Wesgro was honoured to have Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism – Dr. Ivan Meyer & City of Cape Town’s Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos, delivered remarks, reinforcing the continued focus on driving economic growth, job creation and export expansion in the province.
They continued to connect global markets to local opportunity. This programme remained key in scaling impact, supporting exporters and contributing meaningfully to the Western Cape economy.
