Chipinge, Zimbabwe: A young man from Chipinge committed suicide by hanging himself in a graveyard from a tree branch. The incident took place last week.
As per the sources, the person is identified as a 23-year-old young man, Ransom Dhliwayo, who has cut his life short after squandering his school fees.
Reportedly, Ransom Dhliwayo came back from Checheche Town Centre, swishing a knife with the purpose of stabbing himself. He then confessed to his father – Wilson Mubuso Dhliwayo, that he had squandered the school fees that his father gave to him to submit.
However, Wilson Dhliwayo refused him from killing himself. Later on, Ransome’s body was found the next morning at a nearby graveyard hanging from a tree branch.
Assistant Inspector – Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed that the incident happened in Konjana Village in Chief Musikavanhu’s area.
Narrating the incident, Chinyoka said that on the day of the interrogation session, Ransome left his home around 4:00 p.m. to go to Checheche Town Centre.
The police also recorded that the father – Wilson Dhliwayo, gathered with other family members to look for his son Ransom in the evening. The family members searched for him at every possible location but couldn’t find him. Afterwards, they filed a report of a missing person at Chisumbanje Police Station.
Continuing the story, the Assistant Inspector added, “Ransome returned home at 10:00 p.m. with a knife in his hand and told his father that he would stab himself because he had wasted his school fees.”
The father left Ransome in the company of his brother – Norman Dhliwayo, in the dining room. He restrained him from killing himself before going to bed and left them alone.
The family members woke up in the morning and found that Ransome was missing. They searched for him and found his body hanging from a branch of a tree. He hanged himself with an electric cable and no foul play is suspected, said Chinyoka.
Assistant Inspector – Wiseman Chinyoka urged the local public to get counselling from professionals or the elders. They advised them to share their situations with the close ones and ask for help.
