Zambia: Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Ibex Aviation Town (IAT) Friday, 08 September 2023, held the first-ever porting in and out parade, which signified the handover of instruments of command from the outgoing Ibex Aviation Town (IAT) Commandant, Brig Gen Daniel Kabinda, who has since retired from active service in the Zambia Air Force, to incoming IAT Commandant, Brig Gen Pasmore Pasi.
Speaking at the parade, the outgoing IAT Commandant expressed his sincere gratitude to ZAF Command for according him the opportunity to serve as IAT Commandant and many other portfolios during his service in the Air Force.
He went on to welcome the incoming IAT Commandant and congratulated him on his new appointment.
Brig Gen Kabinda (Rtd) also thanked the IAT personnel for their unwavering support rendered during his tenure of office. He also took time to appreciate the parade participants for a colourful parade to mark the end of his military service in the Air Force.
In his parting words, he said that there is a need to construct garbage collection points, market stalls and a sports complex, among other structures, to easy some of the hardships experienced by IAT residents.
Brig Gen Kabinda (Rtd) said that the time had now come for him to bid farewell to the Air Force Family and that he had so much to be thankful for in his military career.
“The virtues & discipline embedded and I have acquired during my long service will continue to guide me as I soldier in my new chapter”, he proudly said.
Meanwhile, the Incoming IAT Commandant, Brig Gen Pasi, pledged to work diligently in order to justify the confidence that the command has reposed in him.
“We are not reinventing the wheel but simply going to do a bit more in order to take IAT to greater heights and improve on the gains made by my predecessor,” remarked Brig Gen Pasi.
He further said that he would endeavour to tackle all the pending tasks and try with maximum force to curb all the challenges that IAT is currently facing.
IAT is home to approximately Eight Thousand residents, and the IAT Camp is charged with the responsibility of providing appropriate accommodation across all Lusaka Formations as well as temporal accommodation for students in residential schools such as Centre of Advanced Learning (CAL) and Air Defence School (ADS) as well as any other tasks as ZAF Command assign me.
Brig Gen Pasi takes over from Brig Gen Kabinda, who served IAT as Commandant for two years.
The Air Force Family wishes Brig Gen Kabinda the best of luck as he soldiers on his new journey in his retirement after a long and selfless service to the Nation.
And Congratulations to Brig Gen Pasi on his well-deserved appointment as he assumed command of the Ibex Aviation Town (IAT).
