Zambia: Zambia Air Force Headquarters Base Commandant, Brig Gen Marcellino Chiluba has expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues for the sudden death of Warrant Officer Class One, George Kafula Mulenga, popularly known as GK, describing it as heart-wrenching.
The Base Commandant reminisced about Warrant Officer Mulenga’s steadfast commitment to duty, his exemplary leadership, and the positive impact he had on those around him.
Warrant Officer Mulenga passed away last Thursday, 25 January 2024, at the Maina Soko Medical Centre, and a truly sombre mood descended on the Zambia Air Force Headquarters Base as news of his passing filtered out.
The vibrant and dedicated officer, who succumbed to a sudden illness, was put to rest on Monday, 29 January 2024, at the Leopards Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Lusaka.
Warrant Officer Mulenga was born on 25 March 1970 in Chililabombwe and joined the Air Force for his Basic military training in 1993 under Finance as a direct entrant. He rose through rank and file of the Airmen’s corp to the rank of Warrant Officer Class One, the rank he held until his untimely death.
Zambia Air Force Headquarters Base Commandant, Brig Gen Chiluba, represented the Zambia Air Force Commander, Lt Gen Oscar Msitu Nyoni, at the Church Service and burial that was witnessed by many.
Indeed, the legacy of Warrant Officer Mulenga would endure in the memories of those who served alongside him, a proof of his dedication, valour, and the indelible mark he left on the Zambia Air Force.
Not only the Zambia Air Force and his family in deep shock, but residents are also seemed in shock as it was a sudden death. People are reaching his residence in order to give condolences to the family and friends of Brig Gen Chiluba.
Residents also appreciate his contribution to the growth of the Zambia Air Force. One resident said, “People and those around will forever bear witness to your steps on earth.”
