The objective of the summit is for African leaders to come up with ways and means of addressing the transnational problem that has continued to be a challenge in most African countries.

Lieutenant General Alibuzwi said on Tuesday during the end of year media interaction held at the Zambia Army headquarters in Lusaka.

The Army Commander explained that transnational problems such as human trafficking have been a challenge for too long, hence the hosting of the summit.

The Army Commander says that the Army will continue working with the media to foster the country’s security and economic growth. Lt. Gen Alibuzwi said the media is a good partner when it comes to disseminating information to the citizenry, hence the army’s commitment to continue working with the fourth estate.

He said that through its programming, the army will also introduce local language programs through different media platforms, including their newly launched Buffalo Television channel, where Zambia Army programs are highlighted.

“As the army, we are hallo to work with you, and we call on you to help us publicize not only what the army is doing but also the upcoming summit so that the citizens are well informed,” he noted.

Speaking at the same event, Zambia Army Director General for Civil-Military Affairs Brigadier General Luswepo Sinyiza said the media interaction is meant to sell both the success achieved and failures of the Army.

Zambia Army Director Public Relations and Foreign Liaison Colonel Martin Liyungu said the media interaction is about renewing the good relationship that exists between the Army and the media.

Col. Liyungu noted that the media interaction meeting has not just been held to strengthen the relationship between the two but also to educate the media about the different military protocols.

Meanwhile, Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) Director Loyce Saili has commended the Zambia Army for organizing the media interaction.

Mrs Saili stated that the media interaction held today had removed the fear that most people had about the army. She has since assured the army of consistent publicity on the upcoming summit.

“As ZANIS and as the media in particular, I want to assure you that we stand ready to cover the upcoming summit. We have covered a number of summits which have been successful. We believe and trust that this will also be successful,” Saili noted.
