The Zambia Anti-Corruption Conference is being hosted in Kabulonga today, November 20, 2023 and Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The Conference is an effective initiative taken up by Transparency International Zambia and the Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Zambia Anti-Corruption Conference is being hosted in Kabulonga today, November 20, 2023 and Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The Conference is an effective initiative taken up by Transparency International Zambia and the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Several Organisations, including the Christian Churches Monitoring Group, joined the conference held at Avani Victoria Falls Resort in Livingstone, Zambia.

The theme of the conference was: “Building a culture of ethics and integrity in the fight against corruption”. The Conference emphasises the need to have a strong electoral voting system.

The ZACC 2023 conference was a timely conversation that speaks to the need to enhance integrity in the electoral process and build strong political parties through strengthening intraparty democracy.

There were several delegations who arrived in Zambia for the ZACC 2023 yesterday, Sunday, November 19, 2023. These delegations include a group of Government officials, Ambassadors to Zambia, Media, CSOs, NGOs, Youths, Activists, etc.

Earlier this week, a legal seminar was opened by the Chairperson of the Anti-Curroption Commission of Zambia, Musa Mwenye SC.

During the seminar, he ensured that the Government of Zambia would continue treating the corruption issues. Chairperson Musa Mwenye stated that Corruption, money laundering and financial flows are at the forefront of hindering the economic development of the nation.

Reportedly, the ZACC 2023 aimed to motivate and empower the communities. It is an effective initiative implemented for the public. It includes the promotion of anticorruption for citizens to seek advice, propose solutions, and report corruption and customer service problems relating to Corruption.

It is an initiative taken by the Zambia Law Development Commission. It was created by the act of Parliament. It performs various functions, including:-

  • Making recommendations on the review and reform of the law.
  • Translating laws into different languages
  • Holding legal seminars and Conferences
  • Conducting research and making recommendations on:-
  • Matters Zambian people want to be included in the law
  • Irregularities that should be removed from existing laws
  • News ways in which law and access to justice can be improved and promoted
    The removal of outdated laws
  • New laws should be developed to respond to the needs of the Zambian people
