Zambia: In a shocking turn of events today, anonymous people have set ablaze at the Nchanga local Court in Chingola. Perpetrators have intentionally set up a devastating fire that destroyed everything, including Court records.
People who rushed to the scene found firefighters desperately trying to lower the gaze of the flame of the fire, which had left nothing that came its way and led to the ultimate destruction.
Speaking in an interview, Chingola Resident Magistrate Stephen Mabona said he was informed around 04:00hrs that the Court was on Fire, and when he rushed to the scene, he found that everything had been gutted, and the entire court premise had turned into ashes, erasing records and infrastructure alike.
Magistrate Stephen Mabona said he informed Chingola Municipal Council who later engaged firefighters from KCM and when they rushed to the scene, they found that everything had been burnt and all their efforts and hard work had been turned in vain.
Magistrate Mabona said Preliminary investigations by ZESCO the electricity supply company, pointed towards an intact electrical system indicating that everything was intact and foul play is suspected.
Eyewitnesses told the authorities that the Fire started around 03:00 am and he felt completely helpless as the flames were rapidly spreading flames and taking everything that was left in their way this deliberate and intentional arson has led the authorities to believe that surely there was human intervention.
The eyes witnesses said they could not manage to put out the fire on their own and started shouting for help. Meanwhile, Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacwell Mweemba is yet to state the matter and as the investigation proceeds then it will surely unfold the case and figure out who the perpetrators are.
In the people’s minds, this incident had left a series of questionnaires about who committed this act and why, as affecting the judiciary can be seen as an approach by the perpetrators to hamper the legal system of Zambia.
