Zambia: The government of Zambia has announced that they want to stay on top of all the healthcare issues with rapid response teams. The administration confirmed that they do not want to be caught unaware by epidemic outbreaks in the country.
The previous pandemics and epidemic outbreaks had become major public health concerns and the administration is trying diligently to avoid this fate. The healthcare infrastructure falls into a state of major frenzy in thee event that a epidemic or similar public health emergency strikes a nation.
The loss of life and long term health scares in such cases can also vary from region to region and nation to nation. The officials have shared that they want to remain prepared for any future emergencies and tackle them with efficiency.
The officials have shared that it is Important for the health sector to feel safe and secure. The North Western Province Public Health Specialist Kizito Sampa offered insight on the administration’s announcement.
The administration of Zambia is looking into putting together a rapid response team for dealing with major health eemergencies. According to Sampa it is important for the district to have a functional Rapid Response Teams (DRRT). It is very important for the efficient and effective control of epidemics .
Dr Sampa says it is for this reason that the administration of the country is working in partnership with Zambia National Public Health Institute ( ZNPHI) The District Rapid Response team will be established in all districts throughout the country.
Dr Sampa announced that DRRT should have the capacity to respond to Public Health Events if they are to be relevant.
“We do not have to wait for an outbreak for us to respond, it becomes very difficult to contain an outbreak or event if you do not have a team in place,” Dr Sampa said.
ZNPHI Trainer Dr Candy Mungala has highlighted one health Approach where humans ,animals as well as the environment are considered as equally crucial to the ecosystem when dealing with outbreaks or public health events.
