Zambia: The Zambia Air Force Personnel deployed in the Southern Africa Development Community- Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) received their promotions whilst in the mission area on 04 November 2023, and the affected personnel were Five (05) Senior Officers and Seven (07) Non-Commissioned Officers.
The Deputy Force Commander of the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM), who is also Acting Force Commander, Brigadier General G L Tshweneetsile, facilitated the promotion of the personnel from the Zambian Contingent.
Among the promoted to Lt Col include Major S V Katuta, who is the Zambian Contingent Commander, Major CK Zulu, the Staff Officer in the J4 Cell at Force Headquarters and Maj P W Chungu, the Staff Officer in the Mission Planning and Evaluation Centre at Mission Headquarters.
Capt D Likubangwa, who is the Zambian Contingent Second in Command, was promoted to Major, and 2Lt N Milunga, the Contingent Medical Officer, was promoted to Lieutenant. Four (04) Warrant Officers Class ll (WOII L Akatama, WOII M Chiwama, WOII S Mutandalike and WOII P Nyirongo) were promoted to Warrant Officers Class l, and three (03) Sergeants (Sgt Chilufya R, Sgt Nkumbula K and Sgt Nsofu N) were promoted to Flight Sergeant respectively.
The Acting Force Commander congratulated the newly promoted and urged them to continue working hard and conduct themselves in a manner befitting their new ranks.
He added that new ranks come with new responsibilities and urged them to work even harder in order to fit in the new ranks that demand more responsibility from them.
The Acting Country Senior, Lieutenant Colonel D Sinyinza, congratulated those who were promoted and urged them to continue working hard.
“I urge even those who were not promoted to continue working hard because one day your hard work will definitely, certainly and surely pay off. Lastly, let me urge all personnel present here not to work hard because of promotions but work hard because that is what we signed for”, Lt Col D Sinyinza said.
