Zambia shined at the most expensive Pre-Wedding of Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s son Anant Ambani and daughter-in-law to be Radhika Merchant.
At the three-day pre-wedding event the Ambani ladies Nita Ambani and her daughter Isha Ambani wore the purest Zambian Emerald necklaces. The world-class jewellery was like the cherry on the cake and went perfectly with their outfits.
The Zambian Emerald and diamond necklace set styled by Nita Ambani was worth Rs 500 crore. Nita Ambani is known for her exquisite taste and unique style in jewellery. She was wearing an emerald studded diamond necklace.
Nita Ambani paired the diamond necklace with stunning pendants and matching earrings. She completed her look with complimentary bangles and rings.
Reportedly, the green emeralds from Zambia worn by Nita Ambani are valued approximately at around Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore.
Not only Nita Ambani but also her daughter Isha Ambani was seen wearing the Emerald Necklace made with pure Zambian emeralds. Isha Ambani wore a necklace, matching earrings, and a ring, all made with emeralds.
Zambia is known as the world’s second most important source of emeralds by value after the Columbia. The Zambian Emeralds are special as they are found near the Kafubu River in the Ndola Rural Restricted Area.
Emeralds have been exported from Zambia and this region since 1928 but the significant commercial production began only in the 1970s.
Zambian emeralds were formed more than 500 million years ago with a rare combination of minerals and heat deep in the Earth’s crust. East African emeralds are geologically older than those of other origins.
Emerald deposits have existed in Zambia since the 1920s, but they were not commercially mined until the 1970s, which coincided with the development of prospecting and mining techniques.
Zambia has created its name in the world of gemstones for its abundant supply of emeralds. Notably, Zambia has become one of the most valuable emerald sources in the world.
The mineral-rich Copperbelt Province is on both sides of the Kafubu River and is home to the Kagem emerald mine.
The majority of the field is owned by the UK-based mining company Gemfields, which is the world’s single largest producer of emeralds and takes up approximately 25% of global production.
The Zambian emeralds have also graced the Hollywood stars during the 2016 Golden Globe awards. The ‘Green Book’ actor Mahershala Ali accepted his award for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes by wearing an emerald signet-style ring designed by the renowned jewellery designer McDonald.
