Buhera, Zimbabwe: Chinese experts trained 40 mine workers at Sabi Star Mine in Buhera. The forty employees graduated after completing a monthly course in which their skills related to electrical engineering and construction engineering were boosted.
They received the expertise from the Chinese trainers so that they could operate and maintain the latest lithium mining equipment. Four technical mentors led the training programme from the Changjiang Institute of Technology.
As per the sources, Max Mind Investments signed a deal with the Chanjiang Institute of Technology from China to provide professional training to local technicians in operating and maintaining high-technology equipment.
The deal was made as the mine and its biggest contractor, Sino Hydro, wanted to improve efficiency and productivity by enhancing technician skills. Max Mind is the company that operates Sabi Star Mine, which is Zimbabwe’s best spodumene project in terms of quality.
Human Resources and Administration Director of Max Mind – Zheng Jianhong, talked about the importance of skills transfer during the certificate award ceremony at the company premises in Buhera on Thursday.
The director said that they are excited to have Chanjiang in Zimbabwe to train the local technicians. According to them, skills transfer remains one of the key result areas for the business.
“We hope our local employees will learn and upgrade themselves,” added Zheng Jianhong.
The month-long training course was mainly focused on the following parameters:
- Surveying
- Mapping
- Construction
- Mechanical Equipment Maintenance
- Electrical Engineering
At the same event, the project manager of Sino Hydro – Guo Bin, praised Chanjiang Institute of Technology for the training programme.
He expressed his gratitude and said that he thanked Sabi Star Mine and Chanjiang Institute of Technology for giving the opportunity to the employees.
“We are confident that they will put this into practice and increase efficiency and productivity,” said Guo Bin.
Notably, Max Mind’s localised management, skills training, talent development, technology transfer and training of high-level mining industry chain workers is granting a US $12 billion mining industry target to the Government. It is an initiative towards the environmental, social and governance targets.
