Zimbabwe Republic Police arrests armed robbers in Harare

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of the suspected armed robber in Harare, identified as David Madzima

Zimbabwe: The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of the suspected armed robber. The person is identified as David Madzima, aged 27, and was arrested for robbery, which occurred in Dzivarasekwa Extension, Harare, on Jan 13, 2024. In the incident, a couple was attacked and stole US $100 cash, a laptop and cell phones.

As per the sources, detectives from CID Homicide received information on Feb 01, 2024, that the suspect was linked to the robbery case and was currently remanded in custody at Harare Central Remand Prison for a case of theft for stealing 20 litres of fuel from a parked motor vehicle in Nehanda, Dzivarasekwa Extension, Harare on Jan 10, 2024.

The detectives followed up the case and interviewed the suspect who revealed that he robbed along with other thieves and was given US $100 as part of his share from the loot. The suspect implicated Lameck Madzima, Tatenda Madzima, Roman Badza and Silveni Nyaude, who are still at large.

CID Homicide Detectives have also arrested Ronald Edward Chigwida, aged 39, for a robbery case that occurred in Marondera, Gweru, Bulawayo and Harare.

The Detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, received information on Feb 01, 2024, that the suspect was in Beatrice and was linked to two cases of robbery, which occurred on Nov 12, 2023. The robberies occurred at two different houses in Retreat, Waterfalls, Harare, where US $3062 cash and three laptops were stolen.

Reportedly, the detectives arrested the suspect at his residence in Beatrice and implicated Shame Mwedzi, aged 40, Alfred Chitate and Sydney Chemhere as his accomplices.

Ronald Edward Chigwida was arrested, after which Shame Mwedzi was also arrested at Gazaland Shopping Centre, Highfield, Harare, on Nov 27, 2023, in connection with the robbery cases.

Notably, Shame Mwedzi appeared before Harare Magistrate’s Court on November 29, 2023, and was granted bail on January 04, 2024.

Assistant Commissioner Senior Staff Officer Paul Nyathi stated that the other suspects, who were identified as Takawira Musaki alias Shinso, Tinotenda Mabhande, and Clever, are on the run and have yet to be caught.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged the people to provide information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects.
