Kuwadzana, Zimbabwe: Twenty-two pupils were reported kidnapped in Kuwadzana town. The kids were kidnapped from David Livingstone Primary School in the afternoon on Thursday, Jan 18, 2024.
Reportedly, a kombi driver who usually picks the kids up from school to their homes in Kuwadzana took the pupils who are studying in ECD A and B classes. The kids were later found by a motorist after the kombi had run out of fuel in Macheke.
There, a motorist found the children crying and stopped his vehicle to investigate. He then made a report to the local police station who later attended the scene.
Since the report was filed, the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested the driver while the children were admitted to Marondera Hospital for medical examination.
The investigations by cops revealed that some parents in Kuwadzana had been paying the driver to drop off and pick up the children at the school for a long time.
As per the sources, the children were picked up from the school at around midday. However, it was still not clear about the motive behind the kidnapping case as police is still interviewing the driver.
As per the reports, Police are yet to issue a detailed statement about the case as the investigation and deep search is not being done yet.
Following the case, many locals have responded to the increasing kidnapping in the region, which is not good at all for the younger generation.
A person Takudzwa VaMarembo commented, “Go and Take your child, it’s a bad country.”
Another person, Sarah Nyabanda Nyirenda, exclaimed, “Uhmn, it’s very hard, 22 kids getting kidnapped, and nobody noticed.”
Another person with the user name Kwa Swera wrote, “The story has many loopholes and does not explain the incident clearly.”
It is not good that kids are getting kidnapped and that too in the bright daylight. An unsafe town or city is no good to live in as it will keep raising fear in the locals and will not be good for the upbringing of the nation’s children.
