Zambia: The police force of Shangombo District has received the reports of the death of A 27-year-old by shooting. The victim was identified as Masiye Mukena of the Lilondo area in the Shangombo District.
The victim was shot dead by unknown people while he was at his house. The victim lived separately from his parents while their homes were at close distances.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Lyoma Mukena reported the incident to the district police force. The victim’s father has narrated that the incident happened while he and his wife were having supper on February 18.
Notably, the couple heard a gunshot coming from their son’s house and went to investigate the source of the commotion. The family is devastated by the loss of their child and has been asking the police force to bring them justice.
The father spoke to the police and the media about the specifics of the incident.
“We rushed to go and check what had happened, only to find our son in a pool of blood, he screamed once and fainted then later died,” Mukena said.
Mukena added that the matter has since been reported to the police.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police for Western Province, Mukuka Chileshe, confirmed the incident in a statement sent to the media. The statement read as follows: ”the deceased who was shot by unknown people using an unknown type of firearm sustained bullet wounds on both hands, chest and in the stomach.”
According to the Police Commanding officer, Chileshe said the incident happened at around 22:00 hours at Nyachiluzi village in the Lilondo area.
He said that the now deceased’s body has since been deposited in Shangombo District Hospital awaiting postmortem and burial.
The Provincial Police Chief added that investigations are ongoing.
Further, the people of the country have shared their condolences to the grieving family. They called the incident a sad development and hoped that the family would get justice for their son.
