4th Majana Inter Village Cultural Games concludes successfully

The Tonota District Council hosted the 4th Annual MAJANA Inter Village Cultural Games on Saturday with hundreds of participants.

Botswana: The Tonota District Council hosted the 4th Annual MAJANA Inter Village Cultural Games. The sports event was hosted on Saturday in the Jamataka Village and was attended by several members of the community.

The officials have shared the images from the event on their social media. He said that the event was  hosted very year with the members of the community participating in various events.

The festival inspires a feeling of community for the people of the Tonota District. The  event was attended by several members from the vibrant communities of Makobo, Jamataka, and Natale villages.

The members of the community appreciated the organization for the success of the 4th Annual Majana Inter Village Cultural Games. The leaders of the organization said that the 2024 edition of the event was a spectacular showcase of unity tradition, and fun.

The thrilling competitions like hamba bicycle races, horse races, ku dzata, seme, motorcycle sport show and donkey cart racing to the energetic traditional dances and riveting river races, there was something for everyone.

The guests and community members had a variety of talented local artists to entertain them at the annual festival. The members of the community enjoyed thrilling performances by Hosanna Traditional Troupe Ndingo Johwa, Dikopane Choir and Vukula Matshima music from Motshe.

Winners of each activity were awarded prices for their success in the event. The activities included amongst others:

  • Horse Riding
  • Donkey Riding
  • Donkey Cart Racing
  • Motorcycle sport
  • Ku Dzata, Seme
  • Tug of War
  • 100m race in the river.

The event was graced by the Vice President of Botswana Slumber Tsogwane as the guest of honor. The event was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture Fidelis Molao.

Further, the Assistant Minister of Trade Beauty Manake who all added an extra layer of prestige to the 4th edition of this beloved inter village cultural games.

In addition to the exciting games, various informal traders had the opportunity for sales and exposure, various organizations also set up stalls to share their services with the community.
