South Africa, KZN: Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) are currently Monday (10:14 – 03/10/2022) standing off on Oaklands Drive in Dawncrest – KZN, after an infant baby girl was located dumped in a bush.
A man discovered the baby at the base of an embankment next to a stream in the vicinity of a soccer court while picking mangoes.
The temperature at the location was 28 degrees celsius at the time of the discovery. A bag containing nappies, a bottle of milk and a pacifier was lying next to the child. A note in English (picture 3) believed to be written by the mother was also found.
It explained that she made contact with social workers twice but was let down by the system. The writer also stated that abortion was not an option as it is no longer safe and hospitals have strict rules.
