Roseau: Dominica is all set to host the West Indies and India test match from July 12 to 16, 2023. This international match being held in a small island nation like Dominica highlights the growing global recognition of the country.

The two-match series will begin in Dominica’s Windsor Park Stadium, followed by a final match in Trinidad. Starting from July 12, Team India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, will commence their 2023-2025 World Test Championship cycle with a 2-match Test series against the West Indies. The first match will take place at Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica, beginning at 4 PM SAST.

Before the match, pictures have surfaced online featuring Indian players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Siraj, donning the new test jersey and practising in the nets.

Additionally, Dominica will host India’s first WTC match at the venue in over ten years. The series’ second and final WTC Test will be held at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval, starting July 20.

Notably, the tour comprises a Test series, three ODIs, and five T20Is, with the final leg scheduled to conclude on August 13. The first two ODIs will be held at Kensington Oval in Barbados, followed by the third ODI and first T20I in Trinidad. Guyana will host the second and third T20Is, while the last two T20Is will take place at Lauderhill ground in Florida, USA.

Prime Minister of Dominica also shared one of the posts on his official Twitter handle in which he shared an update: “The West Indies Team arrived at the Douglas Charles Airport last evening ahead of the first test match vs India in Dominica from July 12 to 16. Take advantage of exciting cricket action at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.”

The country is trying hard to focus on their sports infrastructure, especially after the damage occurred by Hurricane Maria in 2017, which has earned the trust of international associations in hosting successful matches.

Moreover, the country is also gaining the attention of tourists with their natural beauty, and several High Net Worth Individuals are showing interest in the country’s alternative Citizenship as it avails hassle-free travel privileges and opportunities to expand their businesses globally.
