Botswana: The Department of Business Services envisions a Botswana that is attractive and welcoming to both local and foreign investors through the utilization of Information and communication technology (ICT) and innovative technologies to usher timely services to businesses and citizens.
The Acting Director of the Department of Business Services, Tebo Motswagae, said this when addressing the DBS support staff during their annual Retreat in Gaborone yesterday. He also expressed confidence in DBS staff to jointly work towards providing the enabling business environment and investment climate.
“Through the DBS, Botswana will be attractive and become the number one destination to do business as compared to other competitor economies,” he added.
He exhorted them to work hard and shun all distractions disrupting their focus on achieving their mandate. He also emphasized that should staff fail to perform their duties, they will be letting Batswana down, who look up to them to provide good service, which will ultimately lead to job creation, industrial development and economic diversification.
The Acting Director also highlighted that the Department plays a central role in some of the National priorities listed for the Government, which are: ease of doing business and global competitiveness, regulatory impact assessment and investment promotion and attraction.
He urged the staff to unite and become one big team that is results-oriented and praised the staff on their last achievement as the winners of the recent independence competitions. He highlighted that they are now aiming for the best department award.
Last month, the Acting Director of the Department of Business Services, Tebo Motswagae, emphasized the need for collaboration by all stakeholders, inside and outside the Government, towards achieving the High Income Status enshrined in our Vision 2036.
The retreat aimed to upgrade the communication and collaboration between JCIC stakeholders and partners to implement the JCIC programme that ends in May 2024 efficiently.
Motswagae thanked the European Union Delegation to Botswana and the Southern African Development Community for their continued support of the Government of Botswana.
The Acting Director also pleaded with the EU Delegation to consider extending the JCIC Programme as it showed its fruitful results in creating jobs for graduates.
“With the programme coming to an end in May 2024, some of the achievements of the JCIC programme are a baseline study on the doing business environment and investment climate, the quality assurance of the enterprise architecture blueprint and the Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions” he added.
