Botswana: The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport, and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare accompanied the members of the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture for a blood donation drive on Wednesday. The aim of the project is to encourage the members of the community to donate blood to help people in need.
The Minister of Youth Gender, Sports et al has been donating blood to support the patients in need, He has claimed that he has been donating blood for several years and wants to encourage his team to do the same.
The members of the Ministry participated in the campaign wholeheartedly and extended their support to the leadership of the Minister. Minister Tumiso Rakgare talked about the importance of blood donations highlighting his experience of doing it for several years.
He highlighted that the blood donation drive seeks to help the hospitals of the country to replenish their rations of blood. The blood banks of the country in various hospitals and healthcare facilities are facing blood shortages.
In light of the situation, the healthcare officials are unable to provide emergency services to the patients. Accordingly, the Minister appealed to the people of the country to contribute to their capacity.
He called the issue most crucial and said that the problem needed to be aaddressed by the people of the country. He urged the people within the MYSC community, to contribute to this essential cause.
The Minister highlighted some of the different circumstances necessitating blood transfusions. The emergencies include road traffic accidents, various illnesses, and the needs of expectant mothers during childbirth amongst others.
He emphasized that donation of blood from the people can become a lifeline for some people. A single blood donation can potentially save many lives. Minister Rakgare also urged public figures as well as local celebrities to actively participate in blood donation efforts.
He believes that with the help of the influence of the public figures, they can urge the public. Further, they can also help in fostering a culture of regular blood donation within the community.
